Satellite Spectral Data on the Quantification of Soil Particle Size from Different Geographic Regions Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Demattê,José Alexandre Melo; Guimarães,Clécia Cristina Barbosa; Fongaro,Caio Troula; Vidoy,Emmily Larissa Felipe; Sayão,Veridiana Maria; Dotto,André Carnieletto; Santos,Natasha Valadares dos.
ABSTRACT: The study of soils, including their physical and chemical properties, is essential for agricultural management. Soil quality must be maintained to ensure sustainable production of food and conservation of natural resources. In this context, soil mapping is important to provide spatial information, which can be performed using remote sensing (RS) techniques. Modeling through use of satellite data is uncertain regarding the amplitude of replicability of the models. The aim of this study was to develop a quantification model for soil texture based on reflectance information from a continuum of bare soils, obtained by overlapping multi-temporal satellite images, and apply this model to an unknown region to evaluate its applicability. Spectral data...

Structural changes in latosols of the cerrado region: I - relationships between soil physical properties and least limiting water range Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Severiano,Eduardo da Costa; Oliveira,Geraldo César de; Dias Júnior,Moacir de Souza; Costa,Katia Aparecida de Pinho; Silva,Fabiano Guimarães; Ferreira Filho,Silvio Marcos.
The agricultural potential of Latosols of the Brazilian Cerrado region is high, but when intensively cultivated under inappropriate management systems, the porosity can be seriously reduced, leading to rapid soil degradation. Consequently, accelerated erosion and sedimentation of springs and creeks have been observed. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate structural changes of Latosols in Rio Verde, Goiás, based on the Least Limiting Water Range (LLWR), and relationships between LLWR and other physical properties. Soil samples were collected from the B horizons of five oxidic Latosols representing the textural variability of the Latosols of the Cerrado biome. LLWR and other soil physical properties were determined at various soil...

The effect of different soil properties on arbuscular mycorrhizal colonization of peanuts, sorghum and maize Acta Botanica
Carrenho,Rosilaine; Trufem,Sandra Farto Botelho; Bononi,Vera Lúcia Ramos; Silva,Eraldo Schunk.
Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) are important for plant growth since they increase mineral influx. However, symbiosis efficiency is affected by many environmental factors. This study evaluated the effects of different treatments (+/- phosphorus; +/- liming; +/- organic matter; field, sandy or clayey soil textures) on root colonization (RC) of peanuts, sorghum and maize. The combination of these resulted in seventy-two treatments. The 2×2×2×3×3 factorial experiment was laid out in a randomized design. All data were subjected to variance analysis and the means were compared (Tukey at P<0.05). Three months after seed germination, roots were collected to evaluate the percentage of RC. Results showed that soil texture and liming were the most important...

Use of Sunflower and Soybean as Bioindicators to Detect Atrazine Residues in Soils Planta Daninha
NOVAIS,J.; MENDES,K.F.; INOUE,M.H.; MACIEL,C.D.G.; HELVIG,E.O.; STANIESKI,C.M..
ABSTRACT: Atrazine is selective for maize, sugarcane and sorghum and may interfere with successor crops such as sunflower and soybean. Despite this problem, there are few studies about the residual effect of this herbicide in these crops. Thus, the objective of the research was to evaluate the residual effect of atrazine through bioavailability of the herbicide in sandy and clayey soils, using soybean and sunflower as bioindicators. The design was completely randomized with four replications and a 2 × 7 + 1 factorial scheme, that is, two doses (2,000 and 2,500 g ha-1), seven application times (0, 15, 30, 45, 60, 75 and 90 days between application (DBA) of herbicide and bioindicator sowing) and one control without application. Dry mass and chlorophyll...

USLE/RUSLE K-factors allocated through a linear mixed model for Uruguayan soils Ciencia e Investigación Agraria
Beretta-Blanco,Andrés; Carrasco-Letelier,Leonidas.
Soil erosion by rainfall is a process that demands management, both for the prevention of excessive soil erosion and for the protection of the quality of freshwater bodies. Erosion coefficients (K-factors) of the universal soil loss equation (USLE)/revised USLE (RUSLE) model were assigned to 99 mapped Uruguayan soil types at 1:1,000,000 scale. This work developed a linear mixed model (LMM) with 79 soils with assigned K-factors, in which the following variables were considered: soil taxonomy, chemical composition, and parent material. The developed LMM had an R²=0.86, in which the soil taxonomy (p<0.0001), parent material (p=0.0174), clay (p=0.0005) and sand (p=0.017) contents had significant statistical effects. The prediction capacity of this model was...

Yellow Passion fruit performance in organic crop under mulch Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Uchôa,Thays Lemos; Araújo Neto,Sebastião Elviro de; Selhorst,Pablo Oliveira; Rodrigues,Maria Júlia da Silva; Galvão,Robson de Oliveira.
Abstract The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of mulch on clay loam and sandy loam soils on the start harvest, number of fruits per plant, yield and quality of yellow passion fruits in organic crop. A complete randomized block design with five treatments and four replicates of five plants each was used. Treatments corresponded to different percentages of mulch of the area occupied by the plant (3 x 3 m), extending from the center of the planting line to the planting row in 0% without mulch (T1); 25% (T2); 50% (T3); 75% (T4) and 100% (T5). Mulch anticipated the harvest in comparison to crop in uncovered soil in both types of soil. The number of fruits per plant and yield increased in a quadratic function with maximum point of 38.6 fruits plant-1...
